"The estimate that more than 60% of Nigeria's population is under the age of 30 and a good portion of that population under the age of 16 has never been factored into a census exercise. < /p>

"Additionally, this demographic group constitutes the largest portion of Nigerian citizens who are active users of the internet and social media.

“It therefore follows that, for the upcoming National Population and Housing Census of 2023 to be successful in covering the youth population, there must be clear, deliberate and effective outreach and mobilization strategies designed to reach this important segment of young people in our society," he says.

Kwarra, who was represented by his special assistant, Husaini Isiyaku, said a strategy should, of necessity, integrate and vigorously engage social media and their influencers to achieve youth inclusion in census figures .

He said the above highlights the need for an assemblage of bloggers and social media influencers to help them appreciate the important roles they could play in mobilizing the youth population to participate in the census from 2023.

“This conference of bloggers and social media influencers is offered on the premise that buy-in from these strategic people would manifest in their promotion of the census on their various platforms and ultimately result in massive youth participation in the census ", he says.

Regarding the objective of the workshop, the APN President said that it should “raise awareness among Nigerian social media bloggers/influencers on the importance of the 2023 census in Nigeria.
