The Chidoka Foundation offers medical services to 400 beneficiaries in Onitsha

The NNEKA Chidoka Foundation on Tuesday provided free medical services to over 400 people in Onitsha, Anambra State.

Nigerian Tribune estimated that the event was the third edition of the foundation's medical outreach after it was launched by former Minister of Aviation, Chief Osita Chidoka, on behalf of the family in May 2023, in honor of his mother, Mrs. Nneka. Chidoka.

Medical team leader Dr Chinonso Nwosu, who spoke to the press at the event, said the awareness was driven by the need to extend quality medical care to the society as a whole and to raise public awareness of the scourge of cancer. which can be effectively managed by early detection.

Some of the recipients of the medical intervention, Mr. Ojinna Chukwuemeka and Miss Chisom Madu, took turns in appreciating the gesture by calling on other well-to-do people in society to borrow a leaf from Chief Chidoka.

Also speaking, Ms. Chika Okolo, who was diagnosed with cervical and breast cancer during a previous medical mission, said she is currently receiving treatment funded by the foundation.

Of the 478 people present, 275 women received free screening for breast and cervical cancer, 85 men received free screening for prostate cancer, 186 people received free glasses and medicines worth millions of Naira were distributed to the needy.

The team also undertook surgeries on four hernia patients, a mammogram and a spine X-ray, among others.

According to the medical team, the foundation is expected to expand its action in Enugu State, where as many as 300 patients will receive free medical care, including surgery.
