Christian Siriano RTW Fall 2023

What would Audrey Hepburn do late at night in the garden? Christian Siriano has referenced the iconic actress before, but for Fall 2023 he took a fresh look at her legendary glamor through the lens of gardening – she was British, after all – at night. "It's dark, a little sexier," he said backstage before the show.

The mood set in as soon as the guests entered the lounge, set up in an old historic bank transformed into an event space with massive vaulted ceilings, ionic columns and a stained glass ceiling. Siriano filled it with roses across the runway, creating a lush garden to match her opulent collection of event wear. "They're a bit more abstract," he said of his floral inspiration, which allowed him to be playful with the theme.

It started with a section of silver and black zebra jacquard pieces with oversized shoulder puffs which looked like clouds. Several looks were completed with derby hats, a touch Hepburn might have liked.

Flowers crept into forms, with panniers or tulip skirts. It had white rosettes cascading in size over a shapely black tank dress with cutouts and an exposed midriff, a meeting of softness and sharpness. The costume came with oversized eyelets and pink detailing.

The creator has teamed up with Alicia Silverstone for a mini reboot of her "Clueless" character, Cher Horowitz, for a Super Bowl commercial for Rakuten and also brought the theme to the runway, with an oversized black and white striped boyfriend blazer over a yellow miniskirt or several tonal plaid looks in basket weave that were modern takes on the classic from the 90s.

Under the gaze of Lindsay Lohan (her brothers and sisters Dakota and Ali were doing the show), seated at side of Golden Globe winner Quinta Brunson and Julia Stiles, muse and friend of Siriano Coco Rocha stepped out for the finale, amplifying the drama in a head-to-toe black and magenta tulle dress that swept the catwalk. It underscored the kind of spectacle and glamor Siriano is always counted on to bring to New York Fashion Week.
