There's a perfect pink for every look | Funmi Fetto

My longtime goal of discovering the perfect pink lipstick has been disappointing. Not because there aren't big pink lipsticks around. On the contrary, there are charges. But I realized that there is no "The One". Because whoever is perfect today will not necessarily be perfect tomorrow. There are so many variations of shades: reddish pink, purplish pink, orange pink, pale pink, fuchsia pink… you have understood the essentials. You also have different textures and finishes. So depending on the occasion, the outfit and the look you are going for, you will probably need a different type of rose. In short, do not waste time looking for the perfect pink. Instead, start building a perfect pink-lipped wardrobe - that way, you won't be disappointed.

I can't live without it… A haircare range that makes the most of the kinky curly hair

When it comes to products that speak to everyone - age, skin tone, general disposition - most beauty brands put their best foot forward and maintain it. But hair care? Not really. It's not that it's regressive, it's just that given the diversity of beauty product consumers, it's still surprising how few brands don't cater to curly and/or frizzy hair. The reasons, based on my observation, are that brands don't consider the non-straight hair community big enough to meet their needs. Many who decide to dip their toes into catering to this group, confuse curly and frizzy (aka Afro) hair. But these two are not the same. Also, when a brand hasn't done their homework on demographics, it becomes very apparent very quickly. So I was a bit skeptical when I came across the Body Shop Jamaican Castor Oil range. Castor oil has long been used in the black hair community as a way to improve hair condition and strength – the Jamaican variant being one of the most popular. And so I tried. And wow. I was dazzled. Cleansing Conditioner cleanses, softens and leaves curls bouncy long after you wash. The leave-in conditioner is moisturizing and not heavy, and the mask is a great way to deliver intense hydration to dry or damaged hair. I was recently asked what I would buy myself as a beauty editor. This range has just been added to my list. Body Shop Jamaican Black Castor Oil range, from £14, bodyshop.com

On my radar… An overnight mask, glowing essence and luxurious candle

Beauty sleep Most brands built from natural ingredients are based on effectiveness. Not so with this mask. The ingredients have been activated in the laboratory in order to obtain a smoother texture and a balanced skin. Farmacy 10% Niacinamide Overnight Mask, £40, selfridges.com

Rise and shine Are essences essential? Not always. But if it exfoliates, boosts skin hydration, while tackling pigmentation and unclogging pores, then the answer is absolutely. MZ Micropeeling Glow Essence, £100, harveynichols.com

Make a splash This candle from Trudon and Master Tseng, the only female tea master, blends woody (cypress and cedar) and spicy (pepper and juniper berry) with an imagined watery scent. Trudon The Water Spirit, £110, trudon.com
