The African Action Congress has said that Nigerians must act to save the country from the myriad insecurities that plague it persistently.

The party's publicity secretary, Adeyeye Olorunfemi, said so in a statement released on Wednesday, condemning the recent attacks on the presidential forward security team and the center Kuje Correctional Facility, Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

The PUNCH reported that suspected terrorists on Tuesday evening near Dutsinma, Katsina State ambushed the convoy of cars carrying the advance team of presidential security, protocol and media officers, killing two police officers in the process.

The PUNCH also reported that gunmen also attacked Kuje prisons the same night, leaving residents of the Kuje area of the Federal Capital Territory in panic.

Reacting in the statement, Adeyeye said, "It is now abundantly clear that the only answer to have lasting peace, justice and equity for all the oppressed people of Nigeria is to rise up and smash this system. failure that is symptomatic of evil governance, mass corruption and blatant impunity.

"Our country space was again greeted by very unfortunate events yesterday. Nigerians were once again reminded that no place is safe. The regime of President Major General Muhammadu Buhari (at retirement), failed miserably in every way.

He added that it had become commonplace that state institutions were now easily overpowered by terrorists, saying Nigerians were still mourning the Owo massacre, the Abuja-Kaduna train attack and many other tragic events with dozens of terrorists still in captivity.

"No one takes seriously the brazen statements of the regime's publicity secretaries, Garba Shehu and Femi Adesina. Action is what is needed! He said.

“Our party, the AAC, is expressly clear that the solution to the tragic situations in Nigeria is revolution. The only other option is to continue the wars we are witnessing. It is the ruling class that is the cause of the war, we need all the young and working class to come together and clean up the stable of Augeans in classic clinical mass actions that would move the #ENDSARS experiment forward . It's time to do the needful!

“Nigerians must not fold their arms and watch until we are all swept away. We must rise up at this time to condemn this act and pressure ousted President Buhari to step down, so that we are setting sweeping standards on the country's political, economic growth and development! We cannot continue like this," the statement concluded.

The PUNCH reported that approximately 50 victims of the March 28, 2022 Kaduna-Train attack remain in custody, with their families and negotiators expressing fears for their safety.

It is also recorded that there was a terrorist attack on St. Francis Catholic Church on June 5, 2022, killing dozens, with the perpetrators yet to be arrested.

In what looked like very bold guts, suspected terrorists had now stormed a presidential convoy and a prison in the nation's capital.
