The suspected drug dealer was learned to be the son of an Ehi Street landlord.

A source said all cars parked on the side of the road on both streets were vandalized.

"It's unfortunate and people are bitter," he added.

Another resident, who spoke on condition of anonymity for security reasons, said state emergency numbers were called before the incident escalated .

He said, “The cultists arrived around 1am and invaded Ehi and Akewukewe streets. Every vehicle on both streets was vandalized; windshields have been smashed and I can say it has been done on almost 100 vehicles.

"We called the emergency numbers in Lagos and they promised that some men from the rapid response squad would be there, but they didn't show up, so these cultists showed up. fun destroying cars.

"Even so far no one has shown up; we're left with wrecked cars; people will have to start counting their losses and see what they can salvage.

"We learned that those who did the deed were cultists; they came with machetes and guns. People are bitter about the whole thing.

“Actually, they came looking for a young man who sells drugs. When they couldn't find it, they took out their anger on the cars on both streets, leaving the owners to bear the pain. »

Lagos State Rapid Response Squad Commander CSP Yinka Egbeyemi said residents did not call the unit directly.

He said, "You're going to call the people in charge of the emergency numbers, there's no way they'll call us without us answering. If there's anything regarding an emergency, it goes directly to the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency and they direct it to us.”
