Veteran singer, John Odafe Asiemo, better known as Daddy Showkey, has come to the defense of two female police officers who were suspended for posting a video on TikTok.

On Friday, the Nigerian Police suspended two supernumerary police officers, Obaze Blessing and Obaze Emmanuella Uju, for misconduct and violation of social media policy.

The Force's public relations officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, revealed this through his Twitter account.

Speaking in the video he shared on his Twitter page, Adejobi said the two female cops had "presented themselves in the viral video and other videos as unruly and unprofessional, in violation of police policy on social networks".

In the viral video captioned "sisters who kill together, work together", the two officers are featured in a photo montage where they are seen dressed in their uniforms, bikinis and casual clothes.

Reacting to the suspension, Daddy Showkey said the action taken by the NPF was “unwarranted” as the video was only intended to present the Nigerian police in a more accessible light to the people.

According to him, the video could potentially reframe the minds of young people towards the police for good.

“I tell you, our young people are not interested in joining the police, because many police officers have demonized the police.

"Someone will see a policeman and be afraid, someone will see a policeman and be afraid to go to the policeman and say: this is what is wrong with me".

"These two ladies are trying to make the police interesting. Trying to get young people to say 'if you look like that, if you're like that, and you join the police, that doesn't make the police bad force" (sic).

“You are the same ones who are trying to fix the image of the police, go find out. Do visibility studies (sic) on the image of the police. For me, I think the suspension is unjustified” , he said on Saturday in a video posted via his Instagram page.
