Dogara visits Wike, says Nigeria can't do without him

A former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, visited Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, in Rivers State on Saturday.

Mr. Dogara, along with a former Federation Government Secretary (SGF), Babachir Lawal, met Mr Wike at his country house in Rumueprikom in Obio-Akpor Local Government Area in Rivers State for a meeting behind closed doors, according to a Channels TV report.

The report quotes Mr. Dogara as saying that Mr. Wike is indispensable in Nigerian politics.

“Everyone agrees with us that Governor Wike is one of those indispensable political leaders. And for us, it is a quest to build an all-inclusive Nigeria. So we think as part of setting the agenda, we should meet him and that's why we're here,” the former speaker told reporters after the meeting.

Former SGF Mr. Lawal said the visit was in fulfillment of a biblical injunction that the brothers should visit each other.

“We came to visit our brother. He is our brother and from time to time the Bible directs you to visit. That is what we just did,” he said.< /p>

MM. Both Dogara and Lawal are members of the ruling All Congress of Progressives (APC) party.

The two politicians recently criticized their party's Muslim-Muslim presidential ticket and said Christians would fight it with their voter cards and prayers ahead of the 2023 election.
