The Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) of Ekiti State, Prof. Ayobami Salami assured the electorate in the state that the 2023 elections will not only be free, fair and credible, but that they will take place in strict compliance with the provisions of the Elections Act, 2022.

Professor Salami made the promise during a press conference in Ado Ekiti on Wednesday to mark his inauguration as the state's REC.

He also assured that the election will follow the same path as the 2022 gubernatorial election in the state, in the area of ​​technology use.

"I would like to reiterate that BVAS will be used for accreditation, while the INEC Results Viewer Portal (IREV) will also be used to upload polling station election results," he said. -it added.

While appreciating Almighty God for the privilege of being appointed REC, he said he considers his appointment as a clarion call to serve the people of Ekiti State and Nigerians in general.

The pioneering former Vice Chancellor of the First Technical University of Ibadan, noted that INEC started on November 12, 2022 a nationwide Preliminary Register of Voter (PRV) posting for claims and objections, which will end on November 25, 2022.

He then urged all registered voters to actively participate in the exercise by physically visiting local government offices of the commission or exploring the privilege of participating in the exercise using the online link of www.inecnigeria .org/display_register.

According to him, in preparation for the 2023 general elections in Ekiti State, "INEC Ekiti State has 16 local government areas, 177 registration areas and 2,445 polling stations; with a total number of 988,923 registered voters of which 754,886 voters have collected their permanent voter card (PVC), while 234,037 (representing approximately 24% of the total) PVC have yet to be collected.

The REC promised to operate an open-door policy and urged journalists to "please take the trouble to always verify and clarify any information before going to press."
