Elections: NIS recovers 700 PVCs from foreigners in Jigawa

The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has collected 700 permanent voter cards from foreigners in Jigawa State.

NIS Jigawa State Command Comptroller Ahmad Dauda Bagari confirmed in a statement that 700 foreigners were arrested for possession of PVCs and national ID cards and confiscated and handed over to headquarters national NIS in Abuja.< /p>

The takeover was part of NIS efforts to ensure no foreigners vote in the 2023 general election.

The commander ordered the closure of all state borders "from 12:00 a.m. February 25, 2023 to 12:00 a.m. Sunday, February 26, 2023".

The command called on the people of the state to use the guidelines provided to achieve free, fair and credible elections.
