Emery 'can't stand' Emi Martinez' 'difficult' and 'rude' personality and 'don't want him' at Villa

According to reports in Spain, Aston Villa head coach Unai Emery 'can't stand' goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez and wants to sell him.

Martinez made headlines after Argentina's success at the World Cup this winter.

The 30-year-old was criticized for his behavior in the penalty shootout victory over France in the final of the competition.

After the match, Martinez decided to make a lewd gesture with the Golden Glove trophy before mocking French striker Kylian Mbappe during the celebrations.

Martinez called for a minute's silence in the locker room, then held a doll with Mbappe's face on it during the open-top bus parade in Buenos Aires.

Emery discussed Martinez at a press conference on Friday, saying he will discuss his behavior when he returns to the Midlands next week.

He said, "When you have a big emotion, sometimes it's hard to control it.

"I will talk to him next week about some celebrations, but I have to respect that he is with his national team at the moment. When he is back with us, we can talk about it."

Martinez has been linked with Manchester United this week and the Red Devils may be able to sign him if reports from Spain are to be believed.

According to less reliable Fichajes, Emery doesn't like the former Arsenal shot-stopper.

In the sensational report, it is said that the Spanish head coach 'doesn't want Emiliano Martinez at Aston Villa'.

Emery is "pulling all the strings possible" to get the Argentine hero out.

Emery is not a fan of Martinez's "peculiar temperament" and "difficult personality", which were highlighted last week.

The 'mockery' of the French players meant that his personality was "even more exaggerated".

The report amusingly said that Martinez "proved to be a great goalkeeper and, also, a great foul-mouthed".

"For this reason, Unai Emery wants him to leave Villa Park as soon as possible," he adds.

Emery already has a replacement in mind, another World Cup hero in Morocco's Bono.

The Sevilla keeper would cost around €40m, which is considered an 'affordable' amount for Aston Villa.

The 31-year-old was arguably the best goalkeeper at the World Cup in Qatar, helping Morocco defy odds to reach the semi-finals.

The African nation conceded only one goal before the semi-final loss to France, and it was an own goal.

It's unclear whether Sevilla would be willing to heed the offer or not, but Bono would be a stellar replacement should Emery sack Martinez.
