Enugu Poll: "My support for Peter Mbah is Peter Obi's wish" - LP Chieftain Iyere
Comrade Kennedy Iyere, a Labor Party leader, says his support for Dr Peter Mbah in the just-concluded gubernatorial election in Enugu State is in line with Mr Peter Obi's wishes .
It should be recalled that prior to the March 18 gubernatorial election; Iyere led Obidient Movement members to endorse Mbah, then a PDP gubernatorial candidate and now governor-elect of Enugu State.
Iyere, who is the organizer of the movement of 40 million ballots for Peter Obi, explained his action to journalists on Friday after the declaration of Peter Mbah as governor-elect of Enugu State
He said his action was motivated by Obi's desire to have competent people in all states to help him carry out his development agenda.
According to him, the Obidient Movement embraced Peter Obi because of his character, skill and ability, that doesn't mean we should withdraw our support for candidates from other parties who have abilities like Peter Obi .
"During one of my discussions with Peter Obi at the Dennis Hotel a few months ago, he told me firmly that he would like me to use my network to work with other people who have skills and abilities.
"Also, working with him so that we can revive Nigeria.
"Therefore, what I came to do in Enugu is in line with what we think through the different political parties, you have competent people.
"In endorsing Mbah of the PDP, we have reviewed all the candidates vying for the post of governor and based on our assessment, we believe that he is the best and has the character, competence and ability," he said.
Commenting on the outcome of the presidential election and the ensuing judicial process, Iyere reiterated that Obi remains his president and his stolen mandate would be regained.
“Pete Obi and his running mate, Datti Baba-Ahmed, remain the best hands for the job and together with all men and women of good will, we will fight to reclaim his mandate,” he added.< /p>
