Father arrested for alleged murder of two children

A 25-year-old man, Elisha Tari, from Michika Local Government Area in Adamawa State, has been arrested for allegedly killing two of his children.

The suspect from Himikidu, Michika LGA, allegedly used a stone and a stick to hit two of his children aged three and five respectively.

A statement from state police spokesman Suleiman Nguroje said on Saturday that the suspect was apprehended on August 18, 2022.

Nguroje said the accused was arrested following a complaint filed at Michika Divisional Police Headquarters by the victims' grandfather.

"Preliminary investigation reveals that the victim's mother separated from the suspect two months ago after they had a misunderstanding," Nguroje added.

He said the suspect was arrested while trying to escape to the Republic of Cameroon and is being investigated to determine the reason for the brutal murder of his own children.

He further stated that the State Commissioner of Police, Sikiru Akande, who sadly noted the inhumane act, ordered the Deputy Commissioner of Police to resume the investigation and to ensure the pursuit of the suspect to serve as a deterrent. to others.

He called on the public to always report crimes in their communities to the police.
