FCT Police Commissioner Announces Second Phase of Operation G-7

Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Commissioner CP Babaji on Sunday, together with heads of other FCT security agencies, launched the second phase of a special crime-fighting operation , dubbed Operation G-7, to combat violent crime in the FCT and other FCT neighboring/bordering states.

In a statement released to reporters in Abuja on Wednesday, by FCT Police Public Relations, DSP Josephine Adeh, she disclosed that; the “second phase of the G-7 operation is an improvement over the 1st phase reported earlier in the year. The 2nd phase, which is a product of the performance evaluation of the 1st phase, would engender better inter-agency collaboration, proactive crime prevention and law enforcement activities, and a true spirit on the part of of the security community, to keep the FCT, and its neighboring states, safe.

"CP noted that the special operation became necessary as part of the security community's preparations to ensure a smooth Christmas and New Year celebrations, among other imperatives. He added that the operation revamped started yielding positive results as the officers arrested 3 suspected kidnappers namely: Abubakar Umaru, Nasiru Umaru and Haruna Sulu, all men residing in Niger State, in connection with the kidnapping incident in Kasanki village in Gwagwalada region. “The arrest was made possible following an operation led by the intelligence services of Operation G7 agents. The agents stormed a suspected criminal camp in the village of Gulida, a border community with Abaji, at approximately 04:00 on December 13, 2022, and tireless efforts led to the arrest of suspects and the recovery of exhibits.

“The PC, while addressing officers during the flag, instructed them to ensure that the criminal elements have no respite in the FCT. He urged residents to trust and support police with credible and timely information." The statement said.
