Fire destroys property worth over N10 million in Aba

An early morning fire on Friday destroyed four auto parts shops with goods worth over N10 million in Aba, Abia State.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that only a few steel products have been recovered from the fire that engulfed some shops at No. 65 Jubilee Road in Aba.

One of the store owners, Chimezie Dike, said two of his stores were set on fire.

"I don't know how the fire happened because there is no electrical connection to the stores.

"I was home around 1:30 a.m. when I got a call to come to the Jubilee Road Spare Parts Market where I have shops because the shops were on fire.

"When I arrived here, I saw that the fire which had intensified had ravaged one of my shops and devoured the second.

“It also consumed two stores of my neighbours. People came to help, Aba firefighters also came and helped put out the fire,” he added.

The trader said he lost goods worth 4 million naira, while his neighbors burned goods worth at least 2 million naira.
