FRSC official, others injured as commercial motorcyclist loses control in Ibadan

A Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) official and others were injured to varying degrees in a road accident in Ibadan, Oyo State on Tuesday.

They were injured when a commercial motorcycle rammed FRSC personnel on the Ibadan-Abeokuta highway.

DAILY POST has discovered that the FRSC officer and the driver of the commercial motorcycle were seriously injured in the fatal crash.

The accident occurred along Aba-Oke, a suburb of Omi Adio town, Ibadan on Tuesday morning.

Dozens of supporters gathered at the scene of the accident.

Other FRSC officers he was rounded up were helped by sympathizers to evacuate the wounded and taken to hospital for medical treatment.

The accident happened when the FRSC officer drove across the highway in an attempt to stop a car without carefully checking whether there was a vehicle or motorcycle ahead.

It was determined that the commercial motorcyclist who hit the officer could have maneuvered and avoided the accident had he not been at high speed.

The FRSC Sector Commander in the State, Mr. Adekanye Joshua Oluwafemi, when contacted, confirmed the incident.

However, he attributed the accident to excessive speed and reckless driving.

He described the incident as unfortunate and preventable.

He said the incident happened around 9am on Tuesday.

He added that the incident involved an unregistered commercial motorcycle and an FRSC officer on the road.

"The commercial motorcycle driver is currently receiving treatment at University College Hospital (UCH), while the FRSC officer is being taken to Ibadan Central Hospital, where he is also receiving treatment.< /p>

"Both victims were now stable".
