Nigeria's future depends on incorruptible young visionaries —Adeniran

Former University of Ibadan staff Dr. Ganiyu Adeniran from the Department of Veterinary Pathology said Nigeria's future will depend on the incorruptible young visionaries the country can produce through its education system formal and parental.

Dr Adeniran made the remark following his retirement and his recently celebrated 65th birthday in which a book titled “My Footprints in the Sands of Time” was launched to mark the events.

He noted with dismay that what we are experiencing today in Nigeria in terms of declining moral decay among young people, is a reflection of parental neglect, and parents do not seem to consider the danger of neglect. parenting in the process of educating their children in the homes.

According to him, a child who is not disciplined, especially at home, will become a liability that will eventually destroy the assets that his parents and the general public would have accumulated over the years. He felt that the country is not safe in the hands of such a child.

He expressed disappointment that some parents felt that sending their children abroad to avoid the decadence of education in Nigeria was a way out, but they often forget that these children always come back to Nigeria to cope to untrained children.

He said, "As serious as it may be, for Nigeria to achieve the 17 Sustainable Development Goals agenda, it must have produced young visionaries with integrity-based leadership skills who will take over of our devoted aging leaders to wisely direct the affairs of the nation.

"It is high time for parents to work together with schools to uplift their children morally and academically. Development will go a long way in reducing social vices among the country's youth. It is sad to see that homes are the centers of reproduction of social vices in society. It is not impossible that some parents do not know that their children are capricious. At this point, a society without corruption should be the dream of everyone in this country. What we have need is proper leadership and responsive follow-up.”

At the launch of the book “My Footprints in the Sands of Time” published in honor of his retirement, some prominent Nigerians in academia, politics and business circles praised Adeniran, testifying to his life as a 'integrity, reliability, and dedication during service.

For example, Chief Wole Olanipeku said that although Gani is a practicing Muslim, in practical terms Gani is a humanist, a lover of humanity, and a doer and seeker of all that is good, noble and pious, a friend and sympathizer, a benevolent and God-fearing being.

He said, "Gani is never envious of anyone, regardless of their position or achievements; on the contrary, he prays and appreciates others who make steady progress in their endeavors, regardless of them nor show bitterness against them."
