Futureverse today announced that it has merged eight Web3 companies into one company to create an open metaverse ecosystem.

The goal is to create a unique collaborative metaverse ecosystem with the common goal of improving the experience of Web3 and the open metaverse. Other than Animoca Brands, this is the first time I've seen someone executing a deployment strategy involving both metaverse and Web3.

Who would have thought that the metaverse would start in Auckland, New Zealand, where the company is based? Futureverse is the culmination of five years of strategy, research and development to create the foundation for an open and scalable metaverse infrastructure with world-class content and a highly engaged community, said Aaron McDonald and Shara Senderoff, two of co-founders of Futureverse, in an interview with GamesBeat.

They said bringing the eight companies together means that Futureverse is now a company with over 300 full-time people in 16 countries, and has already generated a lot of revenue. Besides McDonald and Senderoff, the other co-founders are technologist Marco Brondani and financial leader Daniel Gillespie. What's remarkable is that the company has done much of this work - which it calls a "metaverse operating system" - in silence.

"Now we spend our time in the sun. And if you're trying to do something like what we do, you don't want to pull the marketing or customer acquisition lever until you have infrastructure," McDonald said. "Because you only get one chance to be successful. And if it's a bad experience, people never come back. Our mission is to bring people into Web3 who haven't been there before. A lot depends on ensuring the user experiences are solid. And that just takes time to do."

For the Metaverse to become a reality, infrastructure is essential, said McDonald, CEO of the company. The Futureverse infrastructure consists of four core tools (Identity, AI, Communications, and Payments) all vertically integrated through The Root Network: a decentralized blockchain network optimized for user experience.

"Over the past five years, we've built the tools and infrastructure to co-create the future with our communities. We enable businesses and creators to deliver the open metaverse experience...
