Former Anambra State Assemblyman Sylvester Okeke has been kidnapped.

Okeke was reportedly kidnapped alongside another person, whose identity has not yet been established, near a military checkpoint along the Ring Road in Awka, the state capital .

According to a family source, the kidnappers called the former lawmaker's family members and demanded a ransom.

The source said, "He is the National Vice-President of the union. After the meeting, he went to his shop in Agulu, where he sells wine.

"We learned that it was while he was returning to Awka that he was kidnapped. They say he was alone in his car. And we learned that two of them were kidnapped.

"So the second person could be the owner of the second vehicle behind his, but no one knows the identity of that person yet."

Another source in the former lawmaker's hometown of Agulu, Anaocha Local Government Area, told reporters that the former lawmaker's family members were handling the matter secretly in order to not to make any public statement likely to compromise the chances of negotiation. his freedom.
