When the case was mentioned in court, the plea of the two suspects was not accepted because the court has no jurisdiction in the matter.
The prosecutor, Abdullahi Sanni, however, informed the court of the exparte petition attached to the police report, urging the magistrate to grant the prayers contained in the petition by ordering the pre-trial detention of the suspects.
The trial magistrate, Mr. O. A. Idiagbon, in his brief decision, ordered the remand of the suspects in the Federal Correctional Center of Ilorin until August 4, 2022, for mention of the case .
The suspects' lawyer, Usman Omotosho, said the court could only hear the case but could not try it due to lack of jurisdiction.
