How the mutilated body of the kidnapped director of Ondo was found – Police

Ondo State Police have shed light on the discovery of the mutilated body of an Ondo State Education Services Commission (TESCOM) director, Gbenga Olofingboyegun, in Akure .

Mr. Olofingboyegun was the director of the research and statistics department of TESCOM.

He was reported missing on Thursday after leaving the office for undisclosed reasons, but his decomposing body was found Sunday morning at St Theresa's Primary School in Akure.

His family suspected he had been kidnapped for ransom and were awaiting calls from his captors.

Efforts to find him were futile until his decomposing body was found at Saint Theresa Elementary School next to Saint Peter's Unity School in Akure.

The deceased was found without his head and his organs and intestines were removed.

A relative said the director was still wearing the clothes he wore to work when his body was found.

Police Public Relations Officer Funmilayo Odunlami said the son of the deceased identified the corpse when police were trying to evacuate the corpse.

"An anonymous caller had called the police that there was a decomposing body at St Theresa's Primary School in Akure," Ms Odunlami said.

"On arrival the police were trying to evacuate the body, a young man approached them and said visibly that it was his father who had been missing for a few days because of the kind of clothes he was wearing so he was able to identify him.

"We realized that his head had already been cut off and his intestines too."

She added that the police would continue their investigations to arrest the culprits.
