How Tinubu will win next month's presidential poll - Rep

House of Representatives member Shamzudeen Danbazzau says the emergence of a "third force" in the 2023 presidential race will have a positive impact on the All-Congress presidential candidate's chances Progressive (APC) in power, Bola Tinubu.

Mr. Kano State APC member Danbazau said the presence of Rabiu Kwankwaso of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) and Peter Obi of the Labor Party will provide what he called a "spoiler effect". which will eventually pave the way for Mr. Tinubu's victory in the February 25 elections.

According to him, the votes that will be collected by the duo will divide the votes that should go to Atiku Abubakar, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The legislator said so on Thursday during a press briefing at the National Assembly.

Mr Obi and Kwankwaso were both members of the PDP before moving to the LP and NNPP respectively to pursue their presidential ambitions.

Mr. Obi, who served as Atiku's running mate in 2019, secures many supporters in the southeast and south-south - two areas considered PDP strongholds.

Furthermore, Mr. Kwankwaso, the governor of Kano State for two terms, is followed by a cult in the state and other northern neighboring states.

Speaking on the spoiler effect, Mr Danbazzau said other candidates would draw votes from the same source, paving the way for Mr Tinubu to win.

"The spoiler - if you're not familiar with the spoiler - the spoiler will give Asiwaju Tinubu the victory. When you have two parts that go together, and you introduce a third wheel , and this third wheel is popular, this person who is presented, the attention will be shifted from the second strongest to the third wheel,” he said.

He dismissed speculation about Mr. Tinubu's health, insisting he is fit to lead the country.

“Tinubu is in good health. There is nothing wrong with him. If you remember last night, Kashim Shettima even mentioned that he was diabetic and had high blood pressure. But Bola Ahmed Tinubu has no disease. He is in great shape. Didn't you see him dance the Buga? He is fine. There is nothing wrong with him,” he said.

The lawmaker said the same spoiler effect would apply in Kano State, where APC gubernatorial candidate Nasir Gawuna will face Abba Yusuf of NNPP, Sha'ban Sharada of the Party of Democratic Action (ADP) and others in March.
