I gave no interview on Shettima's choice as APC vice-presidential candidate, says Borno CAN president

The President of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in Borno State, Bishop Naga Mohammed, has denied giving an interview to a journalist regarding the selection of Senator Kashim Shettima as the running mate of the presidential candidate of Nigeria. All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

He made this known in a statement published in Tribune Online on Monday evening.

According to him, the said interview that dominated social and conventional media is the one he gave to some journalists on April 3, 2017 when Senator Kashim Shettima was governor of the state.

“I did not grant an interview to anyone on Monday, July 11, 2022. It was malicious propaganda, seeking cheap popularity on my character,” Bishop Naga said.

He said he was shocked that a reporter would lift such an interview and make it look like it was granted on Monday.

Bishop Naga revealed that he has called a meeting of all CAN representatives in the state and invited the national body to convene on Tuesday, after which CAN will state its position regarding the development.
