The Ibadan-Iwo-Osogbo road reconstruction contractor, Mr. Lanre Adeleke, on Tuesday ensured the timely completion of the project co-funded by the state governments of Osun and from Oyo.

Adeleke, who spoke at the reception of the monarchs of the Iwo Federal Constituency of Iwo, Oba Abdulrosheed Akanbi, at the project site, also said that before the start of the reconstruction works, there would be patches of bad portions to relieve the plight of commuters.

He said that once the reconstruction works are completed, the journey from Ibadan to Osogbo via Iwo will take less than 50 minutes.

"When we finish the road construction, the travel time between Ibadan and Iwo will be 25 minutes and from Iwo to Osogbo it will be 23 minutes.

"We mobilized to the site. It is a 91 kilometer road funded by the governments of Oyo and Osun in a collaborative effort called " The alternative financing approach".

"Both states have shown commitment. The contract has been awarded to our organization, so we are ready to go. We will deliver the road in 18 months, which is the duration of the contract" , he said.

In his remarks, Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdulrosheed Akanbi, said the people of the area have been subjected to untold hardships as a result of the dilapidated state of the road.

Oluwo, however, commended Oyo and Osun State Governors, Seyi Makinde and Adegboyega Oyetola, respectively, for their commitment to the project.

He said, "The construction of the road has established a strong relationship between Osun and Oyo States. It has cemented and developed growth. This road has troubled us and today Today we thank Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde and Osun State Governor Gboyega Oyetola for putting politics aside and listening to the masses.”
