Rector of Ibadan Polytechnic, Oyo State, Prof. Kazeem Adebiyi has urged new students at the institution to shun all forms of vices and stay away associations that will not only tarnish their image and that of their family, but also destroy their university career and their future.

He also enjoined them to refrain from engaging in any activity related to the cult, saying that "the cult does not only destroy, but it also kills and as such you are strongly advised to never get involved."

Professor Adebiyi gave the advice while addressing newly admitted students of the institution during the 2022/2023 enrollment ceremony.

He said the institution frowns on negative dress, especially by female students, just as it prohibits its male students from wearing suggestive dresses.

“Female students are not permitted to wear skimpy dresses that will expose their thighs or blouses that will expose their breasts or other sensitive parts of their body while wearing earrings and hair weaving are prohibited. banned among male students," he says.

He noted that the institution would not jeopardize its hard-earned image for any harmful conduct on the part of a student, instructing new entrants to abide by the rules and regulations of the institution, as violation of the one of them would result in appropriate penalties.

"A task force has been inaugurated to carry out periodic searches of lecture halls, hostels, entrance gates, etc., to track down deviant students. Ibadan Polytechnic would not assign his certificate to a student who lacks good character. We believe that education without good character is null and void," he said

He assured that the programs offered at the institution are fully accredited by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), as well as other professional bodies concerned with program accreditation.

Talking about the 2022/2023 admissions exercise, he hinted that out of the staggering applicants for the 2022/2023 academic session, a total of 6,435 students were admitted at the National Diploma level, while 3 261 were admitted to the higher national diploma. level.

He commended Governor Seyi Makinde for his unparalleled love for education and especially for his unwavering support on the issue of accreditation within the institution, stating that "upon taking office in 2019 , his administration gave a lifeline of 200 million naira to the institution accrediting the programs.”
