Insurgency: Keep up the momentum of victory, give no respite – Islamic group tells security agencies

Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) has urged Nigerian security agencies to maintain the current pace in the fight against the insurgency in the country.

MURIC observed that men from the Nigerian Army, Police and Department of State Services (DSS) have put pressure on insurgents, kidnappers and other criminals in recent times, putting them thus on the run.

In a statement by MURIC director, Professor Ishaq Akintola, on Sunday, the Islamic group urged Nigerian security agencies not to let criminals breathe.

The statement reads in part: “A new trend has emerged in the Nigerian security architecture. police and the Department of State Services (DSS).

"They have put pressure on insurgents, kidnappers and other criminals lately, putting them to flight.

"We deem it necessary to make our observation public given the whirlwind of criticism leveled at Nigerian security agencies in the recent past."

MURIC also pays tribute to Nigerian troops, hailing Nigerian police and DSS men who feed others with information.

He added, “We urge them all to keep up the momentum. We must give the criminals no respite.”
