The board of Irish broadcaster RTÉ is being resigned as part of changes announced by its new chief executive.

Kevin Bakhurst has made the announcement in his first email to staff since taking office on Monday.

A temporary interim leadership team will be installed to continue running the organization before a permanent board is established, he said .

RTÉ has ​​been under pressure after the discovery of undisclosed payments to its main presenter last month.

An audit of the organization's finances found Ryan Tubridy received €345,000 (£296,800) more than publicly declared between 2017 and 2022.

Mr. Bakhurst succeeds former chief executive Dee Forbes, who stepped down on June 26.
