Kaduna: Soldiers kill notorious terrorist commander
Troops killed a notorious terrorist commander, “Dogo Maikasuwa” in a forest in the general area of Gengere-Kaso, around the borders of Chikun and Kajuru in Kaduna State.
Dogo Maikasuwa, he was rounded up, carried out a series of deadly operations in the Chikun and Kajuru local government areas of the state, which have been the most affected by terrorist activities over the years.
State Commissioner for Homeland Security and Home Affairs Samuel Aruwan, who revealed this on Friday, said the notorious terrorist commander and his foot soldiers were ambushed by troops where he found the death.
According to the commissioner, dozens of Dogo Maikasuwa infantry fled into the forest with gunshot wounds.
"The other bandits escaped with gunshot wounds. It was further discovered that one of them died from wounds sustained in the fierce battle, his remains carried away by others fleeing elements,” he said.
According to the commissioner, the items recovered from the terrorists include an AK-47 rifle, a magazine, five cartridges, two motorcycles and a set of camouflage military fatigues.
The development, the commissioner said, thrilled state governor Malam Nasir El-Rufai, who praised the bravery of the troops.
The Commissioner said: "After an era of terrorizing citizens and evading security forces, the Kaduna State Government can report with authority that the notorious bandit commander known as 'Dogo Maikasuwa" has reached its end.
"The development was made public in operational comments from security agencies.
"Careful investigations revealed atrocities he carried out with impunity in hard-to-reach places.
“Dogo Maikasuwa, also known as “Dogo Maimillion”, led a series of attacks and abductions of citizens along the Kaduna-Kachia road and in the LGA communities of Chikun and Kajuru. He was one of the deadliest bandits leading other elements to terrorize the citizens of these general areas.
"According to human intelligence sources, he was still dressed in green camouflage military fatigues and wielded an AK47 rifle.
"It was also learned that he led his group members to engage in operations with cruelty, often killing kidnapped victims when ransoms were delayed or deemed meager.
"In his final position, the notorious bandit of the company with his foot soldiers was ambushed by agents in a forest in the general area of Gengere-Kaso, around the borders of Chikun and Kajuru.
