Kanye West defends selling Yeezy Gap clothing line in 'trash bags'

You hold on.

After being slammed by social media users for selling his Yeezy Gap Engineered by Balenciaga collection in large trash bags in stores, the rapper-turned-fashion designer defended his ideas and explained his reasoning in an interview with Fox News Thursday.< /p>

"I'm an innovator, and I'm not here to sit back and apologize for my ideas," Ye, formerly known as Kanye West, told the outlet. "That's exactly what the media is trying to do. Apologies for any ideas that aren't exactly how they want us to think."

Earlier this week, Ye and his Yeezy Gap products went viral on social media after explaining how the garments were displayed in Gap stores, claiming that West apparently wanted them to be in big "bags construction" black.

Some users have also accused it of being insensitive to homeless people.

"It's not a joke, it's not a game, it's not just a celebrity collaboration, it's my life," the rapper continued in the interview. "I fight for a position that allows me to change clothes and bring the best design to people."

Last week, Ye wrote in a since-deleted Instagram post: “Look at the children.…Look at the homeless.…As the biggest inspiration for any design.”

His official Instagram page has now been removed from all posts.

It was revealed in July that Yeezy Gap Engineered by Balenciaga products from Ye would be available at Gap stores, starting with the brand's flagship in Times Square. Previously, collections were only available online.
