Katie Piper forced to withdraw from ITV show

Katie Piper was forced to pull out of her ITV breakfast show at the last minute this weekend due to an "unexpected medical procedure". /p>

The presenter and activist made the announcement on Saturday morning on Instagram, adding that host Charlotte Hawkins would replace her.

Piper, 40, suffered serious injuries and permanent scarring after an acid attack in 2008.

In her post , she assured her fans that "everything is fine", adding: "I hope that after a little rest, I will be back in the hot seat next weekend."

Other presenters were quick to offer their support to Piper following her announcement. .

Hawkins, who is usually seen on Good Morning Britain, wrote that she was "sending lots of love" to Piper.

"Take care of yourself, wonderful lady," echoed TV personality Carol Vorderman. "You come first. TV is just TV. We send you so much love and respect."

"We look forward to seeing you see you again!”, declared the Elle channel. Osili-Wood added.

Piper's morning show is an hour long and features a lineup of celebrity guests and discussions.

The former model underwent hundreds of surgeries to repair damage to her face and eyesight following the attack on the orders of her ex-boyfriend, which took place when she was 24 years old.

She lost the sight in one eye but doctors at Queen Victoria Hospital, in East Grinstead, restored it.

Piper, a mother of two, went on to create her own foundation aimed at making living with burns and scars easier.< /p>

She has previously said that society as a whole needs to change, so that people with facial disfigurements feel accepted.

In 2009, she made a Channel 4 documentary about her experience called Katie: My Beautiful Face.< /p>

She was nominated OBE in 2021 in honor of his services to charity and victims of burns and other disfiguring injuries.
