Kidnapped children kept in Ondo church basement for over six months – Group

Please share this story: One group, Ekimogun Youths Connect, revealed that dozens of children found in a church's underground apartment were kept in church custody for more than six months. The victims, believed to be in their 50s, were reportedly held at the church compound and they, along with pastors and some church members, were taken to state police headquarters for questioning on Saturday. The group, in a statement issued by its chairman, Mr. Famakinwa Lucaskakaki, and made available to our correspondent, said he took action with the police and Amotekun officers to rescue the victims. The statement said in part, At approximately 2:00 p.m. yesterday, Friday, July 1, 2022, I was reliably informed that a particular church in Valentino, Ondo City, called Ondo Church, locked people in the church for more than six month, telling them that Jesus Christ will come to meet them by September of this year. The national president of the Grand Forum of Constitutional Rights and Justice, in the person of comrade Omotayo Omolayo, was also informed and we mobilized to the place and we met about 50 people locked in the church. The church has rooms where the pastor locked up his members. The process of rescuing them with the help of police officers, Amotekun, Atariajanaku and a vigilante group caused a lot of pandemonium and the people locked up started beating us. The pastor, church workers and people under lock and key were arrested and taken to Akure.
