Kogi flood: Two dead as boat capsizes in Lokoja

Two people lost their lives when a boat capsized in Lokoja, the capital of Kogi State, following the devastating floods that ravaged Confluence State.

DAILY POST has learned that two bodies were found in the Ganaja River by divers.

The incident, according to eyewitnesses, happened on Monday evening.

At the time of filing this report, swimmers were searching for the capsized boat carrying people to Ajaokuta at the end of the road.

One of the deceased victims has been identified as Abudulfatia Abudulazeez.

An eyewitness said: "The boat incident passed passengers from Ganaja to the end of Ajaokuta. Unfortunately, the boat could not take them to their destination as people watched helplessly, without anyone to help them because it was in the night."

Efforts to speak with Kogi State Police Public Relations Officer William Ovye Aya proved unsuccessful at the time of this report.
