David Edevbie speaks out on court disqualifying Delta PDP gubernatorial candidate

A former aide to President Umar Musa Yaradua, Olorogun David Edevbie, has broken his silence after the High Court ruling disqualified Sherrif Oborovborie as a candidate for PDP governorship in the Delta.

Edevbie had remained silent after the decision.

“My good people, you may recall that at the beginning of my consultations I said that the journey to transform Delta into a modernized state would be difficult. there would be setbacks and false starts, but regardless, I carried on with my usual verve,” Edevbie said in a statement.

"To lead the transformation of a state as large and diverse as Delta towards its destiny, in terms of growth and development, it takes a strong sense of purpose, faith and the courage to continue to lead even in moments of seeming disappointment.

"Obviously, this is not a task for the timid or the pusillanimous. Fortunately, the qualities and abilities required are what I was prepared for from the start of my professional career, both in the sectors private and public in Nigeria and abroad, and the lure of new life, growth and happiness in Delta State provided the impetus.

"Undeniably, most Deltans received the result of the PDP governor's primary with bewilderment and exasperation. To many, it seemed like a blind disregard for our Party's interests and our nation's mood.< /p>

"Propelled by the inevitable veil of darkness that hung over Delta State and confronted with the real possibility of opposition parties taking advantage of the blindingly obvious situation, I had no other choice than to challenge the result in court, albeit reluctantly.

“Today I am happy to report that our faith was not misplaced. our cherished values of hard work, integrity and honor.

"Let's be clear, this should not be seen as a personal victory but as a victory for our great Party, the PDP, which is firmly rooted in justice. It is also a victory for democracy and therefore, it Now is the time to put our differences aside and work together as a family to ensure our success in the upcoming legislative elections.

"I particularly congratulate and thank our Governor, Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, and the leaders and elders of our great party, the PDP, for their understanding and for effectively keeping the house together while managing the internal family competitions.< /p>

“Delta State has always been a PDP state and by the grace of God it will remain so after the next elections.

“To my campaign team, I say that we would not have come this far without your prayers, your support and your sacrifices, and I encourage you to continue to do your best.

"We must work together on the shared vision and goal of modernization, even as we embrace all those who have either contested with us or supported other candidates. This is also their victory.

>

"Now that order has been restored, our PDP family is stronger and ready to defeat all opposition parties in Delta State in 2023.

“Therefore, I implore all our brothers and sisters, who have been disillusioned and left PDP recently, to return to the fold. This is not the hill to die on.

"Let me conclude by noting that most things eventually yield to diligence and common sense. We must continue to work hard in the dark to shine in the light as we propel our state toward its glorious destiny."
