Kwara PDP and APC exchange words on project execution

The Kwara State branch of the Peoples Democratic Party and its counterpart All Progressives Congress have engaged in altercations over the inauguration of projects in the state.

Although the PDP has strongly criticized the state governor, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, for not carrying out tangible projects in more than three years of his administration, the party has now changed gears by informing the president, the Major General Muhammadu Buhari (Ret'd), don't be fooled as he inaugurates unfinished projects in the state during his visit for the APC presidential campaign in the state next week.

Director General of the PDP State Campaign Council, Ali Ahmad, said the president should distance himself from the state governor's alleged fraudulent act.

Ahmad, a former speaker of the state House of Assembly, described the action as a ploy by the governor to spare himself the embarrassment of seeing his failures become a topic of national discourse during the visit of the president and finds no noteworthy project for commissioning.

He said, "They all invited the president for commissioning projects more than twice in their first four years in office. But nothing was done here in Kwara. Despite the obligations , grants and loans that Governor AbdulRazaq has received over the years, it is unfortunate that nothing can be shown for this, not all the roads he has renovated are up to 10km in total.

"In other states, we've heard of 50 miles of road projects and 500 housing units being built by their governors. We haven't had it that bad in the state of Kwara, going four years without a single project. What's impressive about that."

Ahmad then advised the President to travel to Kwara State for the APC campaign, deliver his message to the electorate and leave unsullied by the lie concocted by the government of India. State.

The APC Campaign Council, in its reaction, said that Buhari would be invited back to Kwara State to inaugurate different projects next month.

In a statement signed by APC Campaign Council spokesperson in the state, Florence Oyeyemi, the party said the opposition PDP would certainly cry out their hearts next month when Buhari arrives to inaugurate some executed legacy projects by AbdulRazaq.

Oyeyemi, the State Commissioner for Finance, said, "President Buhari will come next Tuesday to kick off the presidential campaign in Kwara State, while a different date will be announced for the grand commissioning of different impactful projects such as the largest critical care center Unit installation in the north central, which is the first functional critical care facility in the state.

“The PDP is understandably nervous because it has exhausted its arsenals of empty slogans and propaganda that does not inspire voters due to its horrible records in Kwara State.

“Even worse is the fact that the PDP Campaign Council is led by people known for their role in diverting public resources for their own use.

“They are understandably pained that this Governor is now committing savings from bogus council funds which they were diverting to their private pockets to build a headquarters worthy of the KWIRS, which will have various office spaces for business purposes and benefit in the state. ”
