Labor candidate defeats House of Reps minority whip in Kaura
Mr. Mathew Donatus Kozali, the Labor Party's candidate for the Kaura House of Representatives seat, emerged victorious in last Saturday's elections in Kaduna State. He defeated incumbent Speaker, House of Representatives Minority Whip, Gideon Lucas Gwani of the People's Democratic Party, PDP.
Mr. Mathew Donatus Kozali garnered 10,508 votes to beat Gideon Lucas Gwani, who garnered 10,297 votes.
Professor Elija D. Ella, the Returning Officer, who made the announcement at the Kaura Local Government Secretariat in the southern part of Kaduna, declared Mr. Mathew Donatus Kuzai the winner.
He explained that APC's Professor Benjamin Kumai Gugong came third with 9,919 votes.
Gwani was seeking to take the seat for the fifth time.
