Lagos Labor Party rally has no correlation to ENDSARS, says Rhodes-Vivour

Labour's candidate for governor of Lagos, Gbadebo Rhodes Vivour, yesterday challenged the view held by some that the party's mega Obi-Datti rally scheduled for October 1 has a correlation to the ENDSARS movement of 2020.

Speaking in Lagos yesterday, Rhodes-Vivour called such a view a misdeed coming from opposition quarters and their supporters, adding that it should not be given serious attention.

Rhodes-Vivour stressed that there is no connection or correlation with the movement, as the rally would be held on October 1 and not October 20 which the ENDSARS movement organized in 2020.

He said, "It's not a protest, it's a rally and most political parties will hold rallies because the campaign season has started. It's a rally, it's a rally. peaceful march, in solidarity with the Obi-Datti movement. It is October 1st and not October 20th, and in addition has no connection or correlation with the EndSARS movement.

“We also need to correct the narrative that the EndSARS movement began as a form of property destruction. , picked up and cleaned up the surroundings they were in, showing exemplary leadership in how they handled the situation but unfortunately when the military intervened violence broke out there was a repercussion and people who weren't even initially part of this movement proceeded violently, resulting in some of the things we've seen.

“It was the by-product of the violence that the military brought to Lekki Toll’s doorstep, so let’s not confuse those two things. people of Lagos will undertake, in four different locations on Saturday October 1st."

Rhodes-Vivour said Lagosians are looking forward to the presence of security at the rally which is being held tomorrow for the party's presidential candidate, Peter Obi.

He urged people to come out and exercise their civil rights, assuring them there would be no cases of bullying.

The LP guber candidate said state police commissioner Abiodun Alabi assured that the police would provide adequate protection to the people, adding that the gathering was made easier for people so that they could decide to be in different places. He said the rally would be held in Lekki, Ikeja, Surulere and FESTAC.

"If you live in Ikeja, there is no need to take the long trip to Surulere if you don't want to, if you live in Ojo, you don't need to take a long trip to in Surulere if you don't want to, you can go to Amuwo-Odofin, or if you are in Surulere or Lagos Central as a whole, you can go to the National Stadium The idea is to be as efficient as possible and to allow people to participate without getting too tired. We have coordinators in each of these four locations and everything will be organized in each of these locations.

“I encourage people to come out. No one need be afraid. Lagos State is our state. No one can intimidate us. the judge but also by the conversations we had and the commitment we got from the commissioner of police, this will be a peaceful rally for the good people of Lagos and everyone is welcome to join us on Saturday 1st October . »

The LP candidate guber added that contrary to the opinion of some that there would be no rallies in some eastern states of the country, the party has a timetable for the Obi presidential rally is held in all states of the country. .
