Leicester boss Rodgers unsure of Maddison's future

Speaking to the press ahead of his side's defeat at Bournemouth earlier today (Saturday), Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers admitted he was unsure how talks over a new contract for James Maddison were progressing right now.

Maddison's contract expires at the end of next season. With the 25-year-old attacking midfielder sought after by club after club over the past two transfer windows, the Foxes' grip on his services is weakening as his form improves. Newcastle United are believed to have had two offers for his services rejected by Leicester this summer, and reports of interest from Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur have emerged in recent days.

Leicester are currently stuck in the relegation zone, and it's probably fair to say that Rodgers is more concerned about his own future than Maddison's. Their only win of the season came on Monday, when Maddison scored twice and delivered a fine all-around performance in a 4-0 thrashing against Nottingham Forest.
