At the dinner, titled 'Fundraising for Children with Cancer', Ashibuogwu said, 'Nobody paid attention to childhood cancer. I needed something different like classes in the club so when i talked with some of my friends they said childhood cancer doesnt exist thats how i found out that childhood cancer awareness is low and i decided to choose it. Many people need to know that children can get cancer and we decided to raise awareness."

She explained that the club would raise more funds for the treatment and diagnosis of childhood cancer, adding that parents should avoid self-medication.

"We gave N2m to children with cancer in 2022. Many parents have no money when their children are diagnosed, they abandon the children and run away or go to the pharmacy for themselves medication, and he or she gives up.”

Also speaking, the Second Deputy District Governor, Mr. Samson Abodunrin said, "Nigerians should accept the information, stop treating undiagnosed treatments through the traditional method and take the children to the hospital whenever they are sick.

"At Lions Club, we believe that when you educate people, the problem is almost half solved. We believe that the cost of cancer treatment is high, so we decided to gather resources to help those who have difficulties.

“We decided to tackle the problem early in children who have a very high cancer survival rate. ”

At the awards ceremony, 11 Melvin Jones, 11 club members, 13 area members, and 20 members who have contributed enormously to the growth of the Lions Club were recognized.
