Court of first instance remands retired judicial staff for identity theft and forgery in Niger

Presiding Magistrate Abdullahi Bawa of the Paiko Magistrate Court, Paikoro Local Government Region in Niger State, ordered two retired court personnel to be remanded in custody for identity theft and suspected infringement.

The defendants include Danjuma Bawa, a retired employee of the Paiko Magistrate's Court, and Usman Abdullahi, a retired employee of the Minna High Court, both from Paiko town.< /p>

The duo allegedly issued a fake affidavit to a certain Moses Mathew from Lugudna Paiko area, a retired Paikoro LG officer who negotiated and collected a fake affidavit form on behalf of his wife, Mrs. Serah Bahago and Mustapha Abdullahi, a headmaster of Butu Primary School by the name of Amadu Adamu.

The first police report, FIR, revealed that the two retired court workers allegedly used an old Paiko Magistrate's Court stamp, signed and stamped said fake affidavit form and delivered to their victims.< /p>

According to the FIR, “All fake affidavit forms collected from Usman Abdullahi and Danjuma Bawa were not used for their intended purpose as they were rejected by the bank.”

“That Usman Abdullahi and Danjuma Bawa had in their possession official court documents after their retirement from Niger government service. »

The report also revealed that the two rejected false affidavit forms were retrieved and attached to the case log as evidence and the agreements were negotiated respectively at the defendant's private home.

However, when the prosecutor, Inspector Mathew Raymond, read the charges, the defendants pleaded not guilty.

Therefore, the prosecutor ordered the court to deny them bail as the investigation into the case was still ongoing.

Presiding Magistrate Abdullahi Bawa then adjourned the case until November 22, 2022 and the accused is to be kept in the custody of the correctional center.
