A 27-year-old Iranian man was reportedly killed by state security forces on Tuesday night after being shot in the head for sounding the horn in celebration of Iran's World Cup defeat.

According to several reports, including from the Iranian human rights NGO, Mehran Samak was killed by government agents after joining dozens of other protesters in the streets of Bandar-e Anzali, a town from northern Iran, to protest the abysmal human rights record.

Samak was sitting in a car next to his fiancée when a security guard approached and shot him, according to Iran International.

After being shot, Samrak was reportedly rushed to a local hospital, but was pronounced dead shortly after arriving.
