Man Utd striker Martial breaks silence with huge accusation against 'treasonous' Solskjaer

Anthony Martial has taken the unusual step of speaking to the media to lay out his side of the argument against two former Man Utd managers.

Martial rarely gives interviews to the press but has spoken to France Football about the past six tumultuous years at Old Trafford.

The striker had three permanent managers during this period, as well as interim coaches Michael Carrick and Ralf Rangnick, as Jose Mourinho and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer tried and failed at Man Utd.

Erik ten Hag is now in charge and Martial's improvement under the Dutchman has been evident, save for the injury issues.

Martial actually suggested that these physical issues were at least partly down to Solskjaer's management, blaming the Norwegian for playing him when he wasn't ready.

"I played injured regularly," he said. "People don't know.

"I couldn't accelerate during the four months following the Covid season. The coach tells me he needs me, so I play. But, given my game, if I can't to accelerate, it still becomes very complicated.

"The coach never bothered to tell the media," added Martial, who also referred to how he was "burned" by the fans, while Solskjaer reportedly at a moment was tired of his "attitude".< /p>

"Obviously I ended up getting injured for good and when I came back, finished, I didn't play anymore.

"I took it very badly, I had a feeling of injustice, you are asked to sacrifice yourself for the team and behind the scenes you are fired. For me, it's almost betrayal.

"That's all I hate. I can be blamed, but not for being fake."

Martial also took on Solskjaer's predecessor, Mourinho, by questioning their old feud which started with Zlatan Ibrahimovic and a shirt number.

"It all started with the story of the shirt number," Martial said.

"During the holidays, [Mourinho] messaged me asking if I wanted to change to No. 11, explaining that it's great because it was worn by Ryan Giggs, a legend of the club.

"I tell him that I have the greatest respect for Giggs but I prefer to keep the number 9. When I return to the club, I see my name with the number 11, the story has not well done.

"[Mourinho] lacked direct respect for me. He talked about me in the press, small phrases, a bit like he did with Karim Benzema at Real Madrid. He likes these little games, but he knows also with whom he does it.

"He knows I'm 20 then, that if I say something, I'll be the one who disrespects me. So I didn't say anything, it was useless," said he added in a broad interview.

"The following season, I was the best in the team in the first half of the season, he brought in Alexis Sanchez and there I hardly played anymore.

"It's World Cup season and it's cost me dearly, especially since the France team won. I should have been there."
