Manchester United 3-1 Everton: Rashford shines as Red Devils reach fourth round

Marcus Rashford was involved in all three goals as Manchester United secured a place in the FA Cup fourth round with a 3-1 victory over Everton at Old Trafford on Friday.

Frank Lampard's side had been on a five-in-six losing streak in all competitions, and they were soon behind when Rashford set up Antony perfectly to put United 1-0 up.

Although Everton equalized when Conor Coady capitalized on a howler from David de Gea to stab, silkier work from Rashford restored United's lead as Coady turned his cross past Jordan Pickford for a own goal.

In-form United needed a reprieve in the form of a VAR review to deny Dominic Calvert-Lewin a second equalizer, but Rashford secured a goal for himself with a stoppage-time penalty as the Red Devils rightfully moved forward to maintain their interest in silverware on four fronts.

United were ahead after just four minutes, with Rashford getting past his man before finding an accurate cross for Antony to head home, and it could have been 2-0 moments later when Anthony Martial sent a dipping effort just past the post.

But Everton almost equalized when Demarai Gray's long-range drive crashed into the woodwork, and they soon found an equalizer as De Gea somehow left the ball between his legs from the center of Neal Maupay before Coady intervened.

Rashford again played a big role for United's second place, however, powered brilliantly to the line before his weak delivery was turned into his own net by Coady.

The introduction of Everton striker Calvert-Lewin almost paid dividends when he came late to Gray's cross on a seemingly even level, only for VAR to spot Gray's offside the winger in the preparation.

It was then time for Ben Godfrey to tangle with Alejandro Garnacho and give Rashford an opportunity from 12 yards out, which he seized confidently to cap off a brilliant performance and secure the spot. United in the draw.
