Former federal lawmaker Shehu Sani has given his opinion on why South Sudan President Salva Kiir Mayardit might have gotten wet during a public function.
Mayardit was recently seen in a viral video peeing during the opening of a road project on Tuesday.
71-year-old Mayardit peed during the recitation of the national anthem and the event was broadcast live on TV, meaning nothing could be done to remedy the situation embarrassing.
He is said to be suffering from a urinary tract infection, which is common in older men.
The viral video drew mixed reactions from the international community and Sani said the president may be extremely patriotic.
"I saw a viral video of the President of South Sudan getting wet in public.
"It could be a urinary illness or an extreme act of patriotism; refusing to apologize while the national anthem was being played."
