Former Dallas Cowboys star Marion Barber III has died of heatstroke, officials confirmed to TMZ Sports on Monday.
According to the Collin County Medical Examiner's Office, Barber's death was ruled an "accident."
As we reported, Barber was found dead by the Frisco, Texas Police Department on June 1. He was only 38.
The former running back, who was chosen by the Cowboys in the fourth round of the 2005 NFL Draft, had shown no signs of trouble before his death, according to his attorney, Zoltan Papp.
>Papp said Barber started a trucking business and also spent much of the last few years trying to help inner-city kids, while fighting for social justice.
Barber played in the NFL for seven seasons - six with the Cowboys and one with the Bears - rushing for 4,780 yards and 53 touchdowns in 99 total games.
