Martin Freeman explains why viewers can 'smell the lies' in TV series

Martin Freeman is back on the field as a burned-out police officer in BBC drama series The Responder, and the actor is clearly relishing the opportunity to return to a role also realistic.
"From a purely selfish point of view, I like playing against people who are against it," he told the BBC .
In the first series of the Bafta-nominated show for 2022, Freeman's character, PC Chris Carson, was demoted to endless shifts of grueling night.
He found himself battling the cutting edge of Liverpool's underworld, including its brutal drug gangs.
Yawning from crisis to crisis, he tries to uphold the law, while his personal life and mental health deteriorate.
"I like the fact that he has to go through a lot of things," Freeman says. "It's interesting - it puts him in conflict with himself and with others.
"And I love it - it's what makes you makes you want to become an actor."< /p>
