Bandits attack the residence of the late Jere Emir and kidnap a couple

Bandits raided the residence of the late Emir of Jere in Kagarko Local Government Area in Kaduna State, Dr Sa'ad Usman, abducting an identified man as Hussaini alongside his wife and four-month-old baby.

Jere resident Mu'azu Adamu said the incident happened at around 11:23 p.m. on Sunday, according to a Daily Trust report.

The woman, however, reportedly escaped with her child while their captors led them to raid another house in the area.

"In fact, one of the victims was hit by a stray bullet when the bandits fired into the window of Baba Na'ibi's house, while the second was injured by the broken glass of the window home," he said.

Jere Emirate Council Secretary Malam Aliyu Zubair confirmed the abduction, saying six people were abducted from the area.

He added that the bandits invaded the late Emir's private estate around 10:12 p.m. Sunday and abducted one person, before going to a neighbor's house, where they abducted five people.

"And before the police arrived, the bandits had escaped. It was our militiamen who tried to engage them, but they were subdued because the weapons the bandits were carrying were more sophisticated than those of the militiamen,” he said.

The Kaduna State Police Command had yet to issue an official statement on the incident at the time of this report.
