My ex-husband plays no part in our son's upkeep —Yvonne Jegede

Four years after her failed marriage to Olakunle Fawole, actress Yvonne Jegede has finally opened up about the failed union that produced a son.

The actress was on Mercy Johnson's cooking show where she said her four-year-old son's father played no role in their son's upkeep.

Jegede, who said she and her ex had both moved on, didn't rule out a reconciliation, but was quick to say that "I'm glad I left because if I had stayed back for what people say, I won't be happy today."

When asked if they still talk to each other, she replied; “Olakunle and I are not talking anymore; he neither calls nor talks to his son. It's funny how we once had a solid friendship outside of marriage, but I don't know if it all went unnoticed."

The actress said, "The first time he publicly accepted the son was when he was five months old. That's when I gave him an ultimatum that I would withdraw his surname once the boy turns five Luckily I had given him a compound name Xavier Jegede Fawole and I threatened to delete the Fawole and leave only the Jegede since I only do the raise.

"He doesn't wish her a happy birthday on her birthdays. He doesn't call her to inquire about her well-being. He doesn't care that he has a son somewhere. Your gift is in my hands and yet you don't care. You see, one moment that I dread the most is that my child wakes up one day and asks where my father is and it started.

"One day when he asked, I had to text his siblings to ask him to come and see him, but it didn't yield any results. It was so bad that my dad had to represent my son at school for a Father's Day event they recently had. It was embarrassing for me but I'm waiting to see when he shows up or if he doesn't until the boy is 18."
