Napoli are confident Victor Osimhen will return to face Ajax in the Champions League on Tuesday, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.

The Nigerian international striker has been out of action since sustaining a sprained biceps femoris in the 4-1 win over Liverpool on September 7.

He missed Partenopei's Serie A meeting with Torino, but DAZN reports from sources within the Partenopei camp that Osimhen is recovering well.

They are even confident he could be back for the Champions League trip to the Amsterdam Arena on Tuesday.

Napoli lead their Champions League group with six points, followed by Liverpool and Ajax with three each.

Osimhen has been able to contribute two goals and an assist in his six competitive appearances before the injury this season.

Meanwhile, coach Luciano Spalletti spoke to DAZN and commented on the break for international duty.

"You have to get used to these situations with players arriving at the last minute, it's something that all big clubs have to do.

“The important thing is that no one gets hurt. We had no injuries and we were lucky.”
