NBS Begins Verification of Better Delivery of Education for All

The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) works with the Federal Ministry of Finance, Budget and National Planning and other agencies to verify Best Education for All (BESDA).

Other partners in the partnership are the Federal Ministry of Education, the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC)

BESDA is a program-for-result, funded by the World Bank to support increased access to basic education by increasing Equitable Access for Out-of-School Children (OOSC), improving the Literacy and Strengthening Accountability for Results in Basic Education in Nigeria.

As an Independent Verification Agency (IVA), the NBS will visit selected schools across the country to verify the authenticity of records kept by implementing schools at the state level and will also provide data for the assessment of four disbursement-linked indicators (DLIs). ) on which states will be rewarded.

This particular exercise, which is the 2nd phase, will be conducted in 17 BESDA target states, including all the states in the North East, North West, Niger State in the North Central, Niger State 'Oyo in the southwest, Ebonyi State in the southeast and Rivières in the south-south.

The BESDA Verification Exercise will begin with a four-day Training of Trainers (TOT) in Abuja from July 26-29, 2022.

This will be followed by Training of Investigators (TOE) from August 1-5, 2022 in the 17 BESDA target states.

Trained Investigators, also known as NBS Verification Officers, will be deployed to various states across the country to collect data for the verification exercise.

The BNS leadership has therefore called on the States concerned to provide verification officers with all the necessary support and information they may need.
