Netflix Comedy Pilot 'Little Sky' Wraps Filming Early After Production Disruptions Due To Picketing

EXCLUSIVE: Netflix's first-ever pilot, comedy Little Sky, became the last television production affected by the writers' strike. The single-camera pilot, starring and produced by Samara Weaving, filmed in New Mexico.

Production was halted on Tuesday (6/13) and Thursday (6/15) this week in due to WGA-affiliated picketing, sources tell Deadline. The pilot was scheduled for location shooting on both days, I heard.

According to sources, production proceeds without crew call sheets, employing hours very early calls to avoid pickets and locations given to department heads before midnight via WhatsApp. No actor, director or producer would have crossed the picket line.

Little Sky was scheduled to run until Tuesday 6/20. I hear Netflix today let the cast and crew know that they were happy with the material and there was no need to complete the pilot. A representative for the streamer declined to comment.

From creator Rightor Doyle who also directs the pilot, Little Sky centers on Penelope Paul Porter (Weaving) who is determined to fulfill her lifelong dream of being a respected journalist on the air (despite the fact that she may be the worst journalist of all time). When she receives an anonymous tip that the mayor of Little Sky is missing, she knows it's her chance to finally prove herself. Arriving in the spooky and isolated town of Little Sky, she feels she's on to a big story - but little does she know she's stumbled upon something much darker than she ever could have. imagine.

Doyle executive produces Little Sky for King Lulu. His manager Dara Gordon is an executive producer for Anonymous Content. Weaving is also an executive producer.
